Voice Chat
Thumpstone has several ways to use voice chat, depending on who you want to talk to and whether you want to use Discord or stay entirely within Minecraft.
There are three main options:

Simple Voice Chat
Simple Voice Chat (SVC) is the recommended option for normal proximity voice chat while playing.
It works directly inside Minecraft. Nearby players can hear you, with their volume changing naturally according to distance.
What You Need
Simple Voice Chat requires the Simple Voice Chat mod to be installed on your Minecraft client.
Once the mod is installed, connect to Thumpstone normally and Simple Voice Chat should connect automatically.
You can configure your microphone, speaker/headphones, push-to-talk and individual player volumes from the Simple Voice Chat interface.
Discord Voice Chat
If you prefer Discord, Thumpstone also provides server-integrated voice channels.
Look for the VOICE CHANNELS category on the Thumpstone Discord.
There are two types of voice chat available here.
Global Voice Chat
Global voice chat is for conversations that aren’t restricted by your location in Minecraft.
Use this when you want to talk to other players regardless of where everybody currently is in the world.
It’s particularly useful for general socialising or groups who want to stay in conversation while doing different things.
Discord Proximity Chat
Discord proximity chat connects Discord voice with your location in Minecraft.
Rather than everybody hearing everybody else, players are moved between Discord voice channels according to their proximity in-game.
This gives you a proximity-chat experience while using Discord rather than the Simple Voice Chat mod.
It’s a useful alternative if you don’t want to install Simple Voice Chat, or if your group already prefers using Discord for voice.
Land Voice Channels
Your Land can have its own private Discord voice channel.
Unlike proximity chat, this isn’t based on where you are in Minecraft. It’s a persistent private space for members of your settlement. One of the main benefits is that member of the voice channel are automatically added or removed as they join or leave your Lands.
Setting Up Land Channels
First, link your Minecraft account to DiscordBridge:
/discordbridge account link
Follow the instructions provided.
Then go to the dedicated #bot-commands channel under the SUPPORT category on Discord and run:
/lands channel create [land]
This creates private text and voice channels for your Land under the LANDS, NATIONS & WARS category.
You only need to create these channels once.
Nation Voice Channels
Nations can also have private Discord channels.
These work similarly to Land channels, but provide a shared space for players from all settlements belonging to the Nation. Members of the voice channel are automatically added or removed as they join or leave Lands or Nations.
They’re ideal for:
- Nation leadership discussions
- coordinating between settlements
- diplomacy
- large collaborative projects
- preparing for wars
- organising Nation-wide activities
To use them, you must first have linked your account using:
/discordbridge account link
Then use the dedicated #bot-commands channel under SUPPORT and run:
/nation channel create [nation]
The Nation’s private text and voice channels will be created under the LANDS, NATIONS & WARS category.
Only members of that Nation can access them.
Discord Account Linking
Thumpstone uses two different Discord integrations, so you may need to link your account twice.
DiscordSRV
DiscordSRV handles features including your Discord/Minecraft account link and server role synchronisation.
In Minecraft, run:
/discordsrv link
You’ll receive a four-digit code. Send that code in a Direct Message to Thumpstone Bot on Discord.
DiscordBridge
DiscordBridge handles the private Discord integration for Lands and Nations.
Link it separately with:
/discordbridge account link
and follow the instructions.
These are separate integrations, so linking one does not automatically link the other.
Remember: Discord bot commands should be run in the dedicated #bot-commands channel under SUPPORT, rather than in general Discord channels.
