Server Rules

Thumpstone SMP is a community-driven survival server where players are free to build, explore, trade, cooperate, compete and create their own stories.

The best moments in Minecraft often come from the unexpected: discovering a hidden base, striking a business deal, embarking on a massive project, surviving a dangerous expedition, or getting caught up in a bit of friendly rivalry.

These rules exist to keep the server fair and enjoyable. They are not intended to remove challenge, conflict or creativity. Use common sense, treat other players with respect, and don’t look for loopholes to justify behaviour that is obviously harmful to the community.

Be Respectful

Treat other players with kindness and respect.

Harassment, bullying, threats, personal attacks, excessive toxicity or deliberately attempting to make another player’s experience miserable are not permitted.

Friendly rivalry, competition, disagreements and trash talk are fine. Know when you’ve crossed the line.

Everyone is Welcome

Thumpstone is an inclusive community. LGBTQ+ players and people of all backgrounds are welcome here.

Discrimination, hate speech, slurs or harassment based on someone’s identity or background will not be tolerated.

Protect Your Privacy

Be careful about the personal information you share with people you meet through Thumpstone, whether in-game, on Discord or elsewhere.

Do not publicly share sensitive personal information such as your home address, phone number, school or workplace, passwords, financial information or precise location. Never share another person’s private information without their permission.

Be cautious if another player asks for personal information, photographs, money, passwords or account access, or pressures you to move conversations somewhere private.

Predatory, sexually inappropriate or exploitative behaviour towards minors is strictly prohibited.

If another member of the community behaves in a way that makes you uncomfortable, or you suspect they may be attempting to scam, exploit, groom or otherwise harm another player, do not investigate or confront them yourself. Report it privately to staff by either using the /reporttoxicity report command in-game, or by opening a support ticket on our Discord.

For an immediate threat to someone’s safety, contact the appropriate emergency services rather than relying on server staff.

Respect Staff and Their Time

Our staff are volunteers who help run the server in their spare time.

Do not send private messages or tag staff unless asked to do so. Open a support ticket on our Discord if you need help from staff and they will respond as soon as possible.

No Cheating or Exploiting

Play fairly.

Hacked clients, X-ray, duplication exploits, macros, autoclickers and any other modifications or automation that provide an unfair advantage are not permitted.

If you discover a bug or exploit that could provide an unfair advantage, report it rather than abusing or sharing it.

Client-side mods that improve performance, accessibility, graphics or quality of life are generally fine provided they don’t automate gameplay or provide information or abilities you wouldn’t normally have.

When in doubt, ask.

No Alternate Accounts

One account per player.

Alternate accounts are not permitted. This keeps progression, rewards, the economy and other server systems fair without requiring complicated rules about what additional accounts can and cannot be used for.

If you have a legitimate reason why you need to connect using a different account, contact staff.

Claims Define Ownership

If something is important, claim it.

Use Lands to protect your builds, items and resources.

Anything outside a claim is unprotected and fair game. Other players are free to loot containers, take resources, salvage builds, or modify and remove structures.

This also applies to land that was previously protected but becomes unclaimed.

Staff will not replace items, rebuild structures or compensate players for anything lost from unclaimed land.

This does not override the other server rules. For example, following a particular player around specifically to repeatedly destroy everything they build could still constitute harassment.

PvP is Allowed

PvP does not require consent. If you are in an area where PvP is enabled, other players are free to attack and kill you.

However, repeatedly targeting, hunting or killing the same player with the intention of preventing them from playing normally may be treated as harassment.

Wars and other organised conflicts are subject to their own rules and mechanics.

Trade Fairly

Players are free to negotiate prices, compete for business and make good or bad deals, but deliberate scams are not permitted.

If you agree to a trade, sale, rental, service or other transaction, honour the terms you agreed to.

For buying and selling items, we strongly recommend using chest shops wherever possible rather than sending money directly to another player. Chest shops provide a clear transaction; direct payments rely on trust.

Staff may not be able to resolve disputes where the terms of a transaction cannot be clearly established.

Gambling

Player-run games, casinos, lotteries and wagers using in-game money or items are permitted, provided the rules and odds are clearly explained and the game is operated honestly.

Gambling involving real money, purchases, gift cards or anything else of real-world value is strictly prohibited.

Scams, deliberately misleading odds or refusing to honour winnings are not permitted.

Staff will not compensate players for losses incurred through any gambling.

No Real-Money Trading

Trading in-game money, items, land, services or other server assets for real money or anything else of real-world value is not permitted.

This includes buying, selling or arranging trades through Discord, external websites, private messages or any other platform. You may not advertise or facilitate real-money trades on behalf of another player.

The only permitted real-money transactions connected to Thumpstone are those offered through our official store or other official Thumpstone channels.

Keep Chat Friendly

Help make chat and our other community spaces welcoming.

Do not spam, excessively swear, deliberately provoke arguments, advertise unrelated servers or communities, or post sexual, hateful, threatening or otherwise seriously inappropriate content.

These standards also apply to private messages, Discord, usernames, skins, builds, signs, books, item names and other player-created content.

Build Responsibly

You’re free to be creative, but don’t build anything deliberately offensive, hateful or designed primarily to cause problems for other players.

Be considerate when building close to claimed land and avoid unnecessarily damaging the landscape around active settlements.

Remember, however, that claims define ownership. If you want to guarantee that land or a build is protected from other players, claim it.

Farms, Entities & Performance

Thumpstone supports large-scale survival builds and farms, but server performance comes first.

AFK

AFK farming is permitted, but players may not remain AFK for longer than 20 minutes.

Do not use macros, autoclickers, modified clients or other methods to circumvent the AFK limit or continue performing actions automatically while AFK.

Mob Farms

The server uses systems to control excessive entity counts and protect performance.

Entity-cramming farms are not guaranteed to work normally. Once animals are packed tightly enough, collisions may be disabled and excessive entities may be removed. Similarly, if too many animals of the same type are too close together, breeding may be disabled.

Design farms around water, gravity, pistons or direct killing rather than relying on large numbers of mobs physically pushing or cramming each other.

Redstone

Complex redstone is welcome, but machines must be designed responsibly.

Staff may ask you to modify or disable machines that cause excessive server load. If a machine is causing serious or ongoing performance problems, staff may disable or remove it.

Chunk Loaders

Chunk loaders and chunk-loading exploits are not permitted.

Build farms and machines that operate while players are present rather than relying on methods designed to keep chunks permanently loaded.

Follow Staff Instructions

Staff decisions are made in the interests of the server and its community.

If a staff member asks you to stop doing something, please do so.

If you disagree with a decision, raise it calmly through the appropriate support or appeal process rather than arguing about it in public chat.

Common Sense Applies

No rules page can cover every possible situation.

Attempting to exploit a loophole, technicality or unintended mechanic may still result in staff action even if the exact behaviour isn’t specifically listed above.

Deliberately manipulating server systems — including Lands, Nations, wars, the economy or progression systems — to circumvent their intended mechanics may be treated as exploiting.

Staff will consider the context, intent and impact of behaviour when making moderation decisions.

Enforcement

Rule violations may result in warnings, restrictions, removal of illegitimately obtained money or items, temporary bans or permanent bans.

The action taken will depend on the seriousness and circumstances of the incident and may take previous behaviour into account.

Attempting to evade a punishment using another account, VPN or other means may result in further action.

Most Importantly…

Have fun.

Build amazing things, meet new people, compete, cooperate, start businesses, build nations, make enemies and create stories worth remembering.
